SINGLE BATCH MICRO ROAST SPECIALTY COFFEE
RACE CAR ENGINEERING APPLIED TO COFFEE ROASTING
My goal is to roast coffee for friends so you can enjoy good coffee. It’s NOT a business for me, its a hobby where I just want to cover my costs and have the freedom to roast when I have time.
Please understand that I will try my best to get your coffee to you as soon as I can. But you may have to wait a bit. I try to post the roast windows on the site, but you can order any time and get to the front of the line for when I get back home after the races/tests.
Feel free to give the site password (swordfish) to your friends if you wish, if they are friends of yours they are friends of mine and I would be happy to roast for them.
You can see examples of the data graphs and an explanation of how we use data to accurately control our roasts, on the Learning page
Thanks
Jeff

PRO TIPS TO GET THE MOST FROM YOUR COFFEE
You have a bag of individually roasted coffee. It was roasted in its own batch starting with 450 grams of green coffee and roasted with the profile you picked for this roast. This bag of coffee is separate from all other roasts we do.
1 The valve on the back of the bag is a one way valve designed to let the carbon dioxide escape as the fresh roasted beans "degas" The cool thing is it will not let in harmful air.
2 After you open your bag and get the beans you need be sure to close the zipper seal and then compress the bag expelling all the air out thru the valve on the back of the bag
3 Only grind the beans you will use, never grind and let the coffee sit, as ground coffee goes stale within 6 to 12 hours
4 Your bag may arrive "bloated" from the degassing process. This is normal as we package them right after roasting. Simply squeeze the bag forcing the gas from the valve. Our super fresh beans will continue to degas for up to 7 days from the roast date.
5 Sun, water and air are the enemy of fresh coffee. Store the sealed bag in the best environment you have to prevent these things. Do not store in the refrigerator, because condensation can form when removing the beans from the cold.
6 Its best to use the coffee within 14 days of the roast date, but it can be good for up to 30 days. Brew, press, and pour over methods are a bit more forgiving than espresso.
7 It's best to use one of our ATMOS vacuum canisters. This will extend the freshness of your beans to well over a month. Peel the sticker from the bag and apply it to the canister each time.
8 For espresso we recommend a 2:1 ratio pulled in 25 to 35 seconds, with 10 seconds pre infusion.
9 For V60, Delter Press, Aero Press and Keurig see the BREW METHOD PAGE where we explain in detail the process that works best with our roasts.
